dubioza kolektiv (budapest)

Dubioza Kolektiv on stage A38 (Budapest) on November 19, 2011.

To be honest, I haven’t heard of them before – I just saw that they were coming to A38 and I thought I should give a try. Well, Dubioza Kolektiv became one of my favourite bands and I can’t stop listening to them since then. :)

balkan brass battle (budapest)

Balkan Brass Battle (Fanfare Ciocarlia vs. Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar) live in Budapest at Millenáris on May 15, 2011.

The story of Balkan Brass Battle is quite interesting for me. I was talking to Oprica Ivancea, leader of Fanfare Ciocarlia before their concert in Linz at Posthof in November 2009 and told him that it would be a good idea to make a show with Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar. He said that they were already planning that together with their management. Later in Zagreb I found out that they already had started building up the show. And finally, after waiting more than one and a half year, the Balkan Brass Battle Tour started in Budapest on May 15, 2011.

fanfare ciocarlia (graz)

Fanfare Ciocarlia on scene of KUKUK in Graz, Austria on July 28, 2010.

What can I say about Fanfare Ciocarlia? I love them since I have heard Asfalt Tango from Baro Biao Wedding for the first time. I have seen them live in Budapest, Pécs, Timisoara, Zagreb, Vienna, Linz, Güssing, Prague and this time in Graz.

parov stelar (veszprém)

Parov Stelar concert at Utcazene Fesztivál in Veszprém, Hungary on July 14, 2010.

I love Parov Stelar since I heard their song ‘Shine’ recorded with Lilja Bloom and that was back in 2007. In the last few years they became very popular, more and more people go to their concerts. Because of that it became more difficult to shoot photos on their concerts as I never get a photo pass. So during the concert you often feel more pairs of breasts pushed against your body, which might sound exciting for a man but believe me: when they start bouncing, it’s pretty difficult to shoot good photos.

fanfare ciocarlia (vienna)

Fanfare Ciocarlia on scene of Szene in Vienna, Austria.

I loved this concert. I arrived to Szene Club one hour before the show, members of Fanfare Ciocarlia greeted me as good old friends, I joined them for a drink at their table and finally sang one of their songs with Maestru’ Radu. Later I entered the concert hall and I had a lot of room to move in front of the stage. More concerts like this one, please! :)

gotan project (zagreb)

One of the most fantastic (and most waited) musical experiences I have ever had in my life: Gotan Project LIVE!

Thank you Gotan Project for the music, thank you manikin* for showing me their music and meaning so much since then, thank you Zagreb for hosting them and being such a great audience.
